Paragon Park Phases 1 & 2, Coventry

The project involved the demolition of a number of buildings on the sites of the former Courtaulds factory and Hemming Brickworks in Coventry as part of an exciting new housing development.

As part of the projects, Blucon Environmental was instructed to undertake a wide range of licenced asbestos removal works including the removal of asbestos insulation board, pipe lagging (within buried ducts) and the clearance of a large amount of AIB, lagging and cement debris.

In addition, both phases also involved the removal of a large amount of non-licenced material including a huge amount of asbestos cement sheeting from a number of derelict buildings.

University of Staffordshire

The project at The University of Staffordshire involves the ongoing renovation and construction of a number of buildings on the campus.

During the course of the project, Blucon environmental has been contracted to undertake a number of licenced removal tasks on the site including the removal of windows fixed with asbestos packers, the removal of asbestos insulation board ceilings and the monitoring of groundworks in ground found to be contaminated with asbestos.

In addtion to the licenced work, Blucon has undertaken a range of non-licenced work including removal of cement products and encapsulation works in support of our demolition division.

Bloxwich Leisure Centre

The project at Bloxwich Leisure Centre involved the demolition of the existing 1930’s swimming pool prior to the construction of the new leisure centre and pool. However, prior to demolition several hundred tonnes of asbestos contaminated rubble were found in the undercroft beneath the pool.

Blucon were contracted to undertake the removal of this rubble which involved the careful cleaning, removal and disposal of this rubble in order to allow the pool to be demolished safely.

The Pines School, Erdington

The project at The Pines School involved the refurbishment of an existing building into a new special needs school. As part of this project, Blucon were contracted to undertake a range of asbestos removal works.

The works involved the removal of almost 200 metres of asbestos lagged pipe in a buried duct running the length of the building as well as the full removal of a large amount of high level sprayed coating using Quill blasters.
